I moved from St. Louis to California on the train. It was a way to commune with the land and have time with the spirit of my beloved, maternal grandmother, with whom I road the train as a child. Follow Your Dreams is her voice, their voices - the ancestors whose, labor and heart built the tracks, sewed the fields, picked the cotton, laid the bricks and on and on and on, till many of the structures in small towns and major city came to be America. Their spirits reach me when I don't know how I'm going to live through something terrible. Their blood and wisdom are mine to carry forward now, and they, in spirit, lift all of us into our rightful places as descendants, as children of Earth.
