about

I went to college in Atchison, Kansas. There, as with many of us who left home for an education, I learned a great deal from the time and space away from family and a troubled inner city community. A new world opened up inside of me and perhaps for the first time I realized I was free from the choices and directions my folks had made for me. I was free to move about the cabin, so to speak, and live as I wished. This song reflects one of the choices I made - I played. Play is taken from many children who grew up on the edge of a cultural divide. It is a necessary step in our character and social development, so, in my first year of college, without knowing it's value, I put play back into my system. After a day of rolling around on the sunny, snowy hills of Atchison, with new and vital, human connections, this song was birthed.

lyrics

When in a child's world I'm happy and free. I'd like to think different, unlike society - be what I want to and say what I think without the obligation or responsibility,

But those busy people a tramplin' on me, takin' my freedom. They don't want me to see the way things can be without impossibility.

Sun brightened hillsides, my friends are gathered round. We're playing in a world that's carefree. No hustle or bustle a moment for smiles - forgetting the time and having fun for awhile.

But those busy people tramplin' on me, takin' my freedom. They don't want me to see the way things can be without impossibility.

I've grown into a world of many complications, all sorts of duties and many dedications. A child's world is free and that's where I'd like to stay, but I've got to move on...I've got to move on...got to move on...I've got to move on to the real world someday...to the real world someday...to the real world someday...to the real world someday. I've got to move on...I've got to move on..........

Still those busy people a tramplin' on me, takin' my freedom. They don't want me to see the way things can be without impossibilities.
